I’m honored and privileged to serve as the Mayor of Kalamazoo. I ask you to continue with me on this journey as I seek re-election to the Kalamazoo City Commission this fall. Though we face enormous change and challenge, I remain committed to continuing our City's history of great achievements.

I strive to lead by engaging people from all corners of our community and surrounding communities, and by working with our elected state and federal representatives. I promise to continue to seek transparency in decision-making as we work together through the challenges ahead.

As you know, there are many critical challenges facing the City of Kalamazoo. Among these, we must navigate looming budget shortfalls in 2012 and 2013 while continuing to build strong neighborhoods, ensure public safety and create economic growth. The new budget realities that all communities now face will require shared sacrifice, but we cannot allow hard times to cause us to abandon our aspirations of constantly improving Kalamazoo and our region.
